Ecology: Terrestrial herb 30-50cm tall growing in open grass land on laterite soil in semievergreen forest
Tuber: 1-2 unequal ellipsoidal
Leaves: 5-10 pentastichously clustered near the base of stem 15x5cm oblong or oblong-elliptic, acute margin paler
Peduncle green terete covered by sheathing bracts which are larger below becoming smaller upwards Bracts 6x1cm sub amplexicaul elliptic acute entire minutely papillate
Flowers: 2-4 white sweet scented in the evening, bracteate pedicellate
Bracts: 2.6x0,4cm convolute around ovary oblong-laceolate, acute
Pedicel upto 4cm long pale green ribbed
Sepals subequal, pure white or white stuffed with green at the base, 5-7pale green nerved
Lateral sepals 10-14x4-7mm, going straight down parallel to lip & dorsal ssepal, obliquely ovate semilunar, broad at the base tapering to obtuse apex entire
Dorsal sepal 11x7mmconcave, ovate, subcordate at base.
Petals 10-12x3.5-4 mm white stuffed with green or pure white, subfalcate, subotuse, 3 nerved
Labellum: 15 to 30mm long white broadly ovate in outline 3 lobed, with claw which is 2-3mm long & somewhat concave at the base
Lateral lobes 10x7mm turning inwards oblong, subcuneate, entire obliquely cut into fine point or rarely to an obtuse apex
Mid lobe 9x3mm linear oblong slightly shoter than lateral lobes, sub obtuse, entire
Spur 14cmpale green somewhat thickened below the middle subclavate at acute apex, mouth funnel shaped white orifice broadly chordate with small triangular, mucronate ligule arising from anterior end & lying right angles to horizontal orifice
Column 4x6mm greenish-white, tapering to truncate subretuse apex
Anther cells diverging, long, yellowish white
Pollinia 3x1mm sub falcate narrowly pyriform acute with 5mm long caudicle & knot like viscidium Stigmatic processes about 5mm long green thick elliptic, curved blunt projecting at right angles to column, surrounding the orifice of spur
Ovary 2.5cm long curved with 6 strong ribs beak 7mm
Capsule 25-30mm long narrowly fusiform with 5mm long beak
