Ecology: Terrestrial herb 20 -70cm growing among bushes in shady places on moist soil in ever green forest 

Tuber: 1-2 ovoid

Leaves: alternate, pentastichous, 15cmx5cm, elliptic lanceolate acute entire prominently 3 nerved

Inflorescence 10-15cm long, few to many flowered, dense or lax spikes 
Peduncle short often with 1-3 sheathing bracts which are 2.5-3.5cm long, ovate-lanceolate, entire, a acute, faintly 3 nerved 

Flowers pure green with yellowish ting, shortly pedicellate, bracteate, emitting pungent foul smell in the evening 

Bracts longer than flowers, uppermost slightly shorter convolute around ovary like those on peduncle

Sepals subequal, green ovate-oblong, subacute, 3nerved, somewhat spreading
Dorsal sepal 9x7mm, lateral ones 12x6mm somewhat oblique, spreading not reflexed

Petals green,2 partite, segments unequal, lower segment half as long as upper segment which are 8-10x1-2mm linear, acute, sub falcate, curved along dorsal sepal projecting slightly beyond it, Anterior or lower segment filiform 3-5mm long, lying on lip external & parallelto the stigmatic processes.
Lip green, 3 lobed,little beyond stigmatic processes, lobes subequal somewhat fleshy, slightly dilated above middle, acute
Lateral lobes spreading, reflexed right angles to inwardly reflexed mid lobe
Spur 15-18mm long, green, scarcely clavate, obtuse, mouth liguled, narrow.

Column 4-6x5mm oblong, green 

Anther cell short, pollinia obovoid, with 2-5mm curved caudicle & small orbicular viscidium 

Stigmatic processes green 1.5-2mmlong, thin, lying on lip on either side of liguled entrance of the spur 

Ovary 16-18mm long, green shortly pedicellate, strongly ribbed.


Flowering September- October Fruiting October onwards
